Alex was tremendous at the Rubio Long Snapping Fall Camp in GA on December 6th! Thick and powerful Long Snapper that really rips the ball back to the punter. His ball is clean and very easy to catch for the punter. His explosiveness is very good and he snaps with so much power that I know he didn't have a ball over .72 all day long. Easily snaps at the college level right now. He is ready for the next level and is a hard worker. NC State is getting a great one to follow in Shimko's footsteps. Great pickup for them.

Alex McLaughlin was very solid at the Rubio Long Snapping Spring Camp in NC on March 7, 2020. First off, his body is looking extremely solid. His chest is so wide that you could watch a movie on it. Extremely powerful Long Snapper with a beast of a frame. His ball speeds hovered in the mid to low .7s. Snapping motion is smooth and once his spiral is locked down, he will be fully ready for the next level. Watch Alex very closely at VEGAS XXXVI in May. 

McLaughlin was extremely impress at the Rubio Long Snapping Fall Camp in NC on October 6th, 2019. He ended up winning the overall speed competition with times in the .7s and even high .6s! He is able to use his whole body very well and has excellent power on all snaps. Athletic Long Snapper that is smart and has the thickness to possibly play two positions in college. Locking down his consistency of great snaps is the key to McLaughlin dominating at VEGAS XXXV and beyond. Great attitude and always improving. If he snaps the way I know he can, there is no doubt he will pick up an invite to the TOP 12 Camp at VEGAS XXXV in January.

McLaughlin was dominant at the Rubio Long Snapping NC Spring Camp on March 10th, 2019. Bottom line, McLaughlin is a flat out stud that can easily do this at the next level. He is always improving and is built like a brick house. Extremely strong Long Snapper. Great form and he is following through well. Built like a college fullback. Hovers right in the mid .7s and will easily, and I mean EASILY, be in the high .6s at VEGAS XXXIV in May if he trusts his strong body and terrific form. By trusting home and just letting the ball fly out of his hands, he will destroy the punters hands. Great Long Snapper. 

Alex was very solid at the Rubio Long Snapping VEGAS XXXIII Event on January 19-20, 2019. Big and thick Long Snapper. He is built really well and can stand up to a college level. Form is excellent and he is moving very well on his feet. Great pop. Great improvement every time. Alex can be a machine when he is on. He has all the tools to be one of the greats in his class. Snapping with absolute full power and confidence are going to be huge for Alex. He can do this for a long time. Watch him at VEGAS XXXIV. TOP 12 Camp invitee?

-Weddington HS won back to back NC 3AA state championships going 16-0 and ranked #76 nationally and #2 in NC by MaxPreps

-Started all 16 games at offensive center. Has gone 31-1 since starting as a Sophomore. 

-Offensive lineman/center individual recognition - Alex received 1st team all Union County, 1st team all Southern Carolina Conference, 2nd team all state NC 3AA and 3rd team all Charlotte Observer honors. 

 

Weddington High School 2018 NC 3-AA State Football Champions (15-1 record – ranked #4 in NC based on MaxPreps)

Started 16 consecutive varsity games at offensive center for the 2018 season

All-Union County (NC) second team offensive line honors

Lettered in varsity football and track freshman year

Most Improved Football Player Award - 2018 Weddington High School (freshman year)

Alex qualified and played in the NC Elite all-star football game in Charlotte in 2015 and 2016.  He was the starting long snapper and offensive center. 

1. Alex is a wrestler placing 2nd in the state in 7th grade (2016 – 184 lbs), and 3rd in 8th grade (2017 – 197 lbs)


2. Qualified for and participates in the North Carolina AIG (Academically and Intellectually Gifted) program
